Family-law disputes are unlike any other matter on a lawyer's desk. The legal questions are usually well-trodden; the difficulty is the human one. A divorce is not a contract dispute. A custody arrangement is not a regulatory filing.
Our approach to family work is deliberately small. We do not market in this area. The work comes from existing clients and their referrals, and we keep the caseload low enough that every matter has a partner reading every paper.
What we tell new family clients is the same thing we tell ourselves in the matter: nothing happens in a hurry that does not have to. Most of the right answers are reached at conversational pace, not at courtroom pace.
